Healthy hearty delicious monsoon six-course special at 137 Pillars House

Palette restaurant have come up with a special tasting menu to show off all the delicious dishes from local fresh produces

As the green season rains continue to fall, plants continue to bloom and grow and this is the best time of the year to sample just some of the freshest and best from Chiang Mai’s producers.

Palette Restaurant at 137 Pillars House Hotel is featuring a special Chef’s Tasting Menu comprising a six-course special created by Chef Lakana ‘Mam’ Suakaew, between 1st August and 31st October of this year.

Start with the refreshing bites of watermelon cubes with dried fish flakes, a classic Royal Thai dish created in the palaces of Bangkok, highlighting the juicy and sweet flavours of seasonal watermelon which contrasts exquisitely with the slightly salty and crunchy-dried snakehead fish.

Next, dig into the blowtorched tiger prawns and salmon with heart of baby cos lettuce salad and semi-dried tomatoes in a spicy Thai chilli vinaigrette. The gentle flames give a slightly burnt texture and aroma while the meat remains juicy and sweet, drawing out all of the complexities of the Thai chilli dip cut by the fresh vegetables.

The classic Northern Thai khao soy soup is topped with coconut cream and crispy noodles and served with a mushroom cigarette roll stuffed with tithe umami flavours of seasonal champignons.

Cleanse the palette in preparation of the next course with a mango-passion fruit sorbet and then dive right into the heartiness of the next dish.

Tender lamb chops are served classically with roasted potatoes and mint jelly, cooked to your preference and perfection.

A lighter seared tuna loin with caramelised onions, olive and potatoes are served next, slathered in Japanese soy sauce and presented with fried seasonal vegetables.

End on a sweet note with a young coconut pie topped with a generous dollop of whipping cream and completed with chocolate ball crumble and caramel sauce.

Experience this delightful six-course Chef’s Tasting Menu for 1,500++ baht per person between August and October.
