Chiang Mai shopping offers a world of choice. From outdoor craft markets to leading international brands in any product you care to mention you can shop ’til you drop.

Outside of everyday food shopping (Chiang Mai is plentifully supplied with supermarkets), shopping in the city is mainly based around half a dozen shopping malls. They each offer the usual selection of clothing, gadgets and accessory stores, along with the typical restaurants and entertainment options.

Local markets offer much more variety, interest and choice. There are local food markets all over the city. For visitors, a trip to the Muang Mai Market, primary wholesale produce market is sure to deliver a unique experience and colourful picture opportunities. The sprawling area around Wororot (or Kad Luang) is also a place to take in a unique Chiang Mai vibe.

While the Night Bazaar caters mainly to tourists the weekly Saturday and particularly Sunday market are local institutions and social occasion to boot that is definitely worth checking out.
