Walk into The Good View Village Restaurant & Karaoke on any night of the week and you will likely have to wait for a table (not to self: book!). With 100 tables sprawled across this resort-style restaurant, complete with floating cabanas, private karaoke rooms, live music and dance areas and bars, this is all rather remarkable considering we are still in the throes of a pandemic.

The Good View Village Restaurant & Karaoke was an ambitious venture to start with, opening on the then-quiet ring road near the tail end of the airport. But from day one it captured a unique market of international and Thai residents in the Hang Dong / Mae Hia area as well as luring city dwellers to make the short journey out of town with its casual but colourful dining vibe, its catering to groups large and small, its tome-like menu which encompasses a bewildering and exciting number of world cuisines at eminently reasonable prices, its live music featuring many popular genres, its fabulous cocktail and wine menus and its constant sanuk vibe. On most nights, the restaurant turned over two seatings and had all private rooms booked with mainly corporate partiers singing the night away, thankfully in sound-proof rooms.

Tanit Choomsang, Executive Director

Leaning into the pandemic, The Good View Village Restaurant & Karaoke has not shied away or cut costs, but instead expanded and invested. Now that life is returning to normal, it is therefore no surprise that The Good View Village Restaurant & Karaoke is back running at full sprint.

No longer just a resort-style restaurant, there is the separate restaurant to the front of the 15 rai venue that is The Good View All Day restaurant now serving food, drinks and baked goods all day from breakfast through to dinner. Spacious, elegant but with the brand’s signature penchant for decorative fun. The restaurant turns on its massive coffee machine at 10am and serves food and drinks through to 10pm at night. The Thai menu serves up one-dish favourites as well as some more specialised and unique dishes from all regions of the country. The western dishes start off with a hearty hash brown and sausage gravy and run the gamut to pasta and classical European dishes. Rice, noodles, soups, curries, you name it, it is likely on the menu, and there is a rather decadent looking desserts menu to be washed down with either freshly squeezed juices and smoothies, or a hearty tipple. A great meeting point, a quick stop for a quick bite, or a place to simply hang out and linger over a steaming cup of coffee.

Jeeraphon Ritthep, Chef

Then there is The Good View 69 Sushi Bar & Bistro in the building next door infused with a young hip Tokyo after-hours vibe, with cozy chairs and intimate corners scattered along with fun objet d’arts and manga collectables. The Izakaya-style bar and bistro attracts the afterschool crowd, with entire families popping in for a fun supper which slowly morphs into a more adults-pub where tasty Japanese dishes are served with cold beers and warm sakes. Every single dish, whether premium grade sashimi’s or a classic sushi, costs 69 baht across the economical board.

“We made sure that people felt safe in coming here and have implemented all covid-prevention safety measures,” said Executive Director

“Tanit Choomsang “ Executive Director ,We also took the time this year to reevaluate and readjust. To that end, we turned what was previously a pub at the front of our property into the Japanese bar and bistro and we expanded our menu at the All Day dining. We also noticed that while people were still coming out at night with friends and families, they tend to want to talk more, so instead of big concerts and rock bands which we used to put on in the past, now we have one or two musicians playing easy listening acoustic music. It’s about adapting.”

“Our executive chef Jeeraphon Ritthep, who oversees all of our kitchens, has spent the lockdown time this year readjusting and changing up the menu so that we have something that appeals to everyone,” continued Tanit. “It is all about having good times and creating good memories with family and friends.”
