Citylife Garden Fair 2025 is going to be a carbon neutral event

By | Tue 18 Nov 2025

As the north of Thailand’s first company to go carbon neutral in 2008. Citylife is proud to be working alongside Boonthavorn and Chiang Mai University to create a fully carbon neutral event, falling in line with the Chiang Mai Low Carbon City initiative as laid out by the governor. This means that the net greenhouse gas emissions on the day will be reduced to zero.

All carbon emissions from the event—from preparation and transport to materials and waste management—have been measured and managed to minimise environmental impact, along with appropriate carbon offsetting.

Citylife Garden Fair 2025 has also been approved to use the Carbon Neutral Event certification from the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation (Public Organisation), marking an important milestone in raising the environmental standards of events in Chiang Mai.

After the event, we will purchase carbon credits to fully offset all emissions generated, ensuring that the event achieves true net-zero carbon emissions.

Beyond being a community gathering, Citylife Garden Fair 2025 serves as a model for events that combine entertainment with environmental responsibility, encouraging residents, businesses, and organisations to take part in moving Chiang Mai towards becoming a sustainable low-carbon city.

In total the fair is expected to emit 595 tonnes of carbon emission, or roughly .059 tonnes per person, as per calculation by the Faculty of Science, Chiang Mai University.

Organisers have contacted a company recommended by Chiang Mai University which sells offsets at 90 baht per tonne.

In the fair itself we will have people separating bottles, plastic and all waste.

Wat Jak Daeng in Samutprakarn Province has a recycling plant where all of our recycle paper will go and be turned into threads to make monk robes. As to the food waste, Boonthavorn has set up a compost station at the back of their garden and will be using it to compost all food waste.

We urge you to please use our waste bins which will be dotted around the entire garden and which will be properly lableled so that you can put your proper waste in the proper bin.

To continue in our efforts to reduce our footprint, we are working with Maxim Taxi Service to offer up to 20% discount on rides to the fair (code CLGF25) as well as with a group of songtaew drivers who will be shuttling people back and forth between the fair and Airport Plaza for 50 baht per trip.

We have parking for 1000 vehicles at the PTT petrol station about 100m just before arriving at the fair where there will also be songtaew shuttles, for free, to and for all day. PTT petrol station. 100 or so metres before Boonthavorn.
