Icebound, a chilly photomontage exhibition

By | Fri 13 Jan 2023

Icebound, a series of frozen photomontages by the artist Annelie Hendriks, is being exhibited at Weave Artisan Society from 12th to 31st January, 2023.

The project was created during the 20-month Covid lockdown in Australia, where Annelie was able to take photography courses to learn about photomontage art.

While in Australia, Annelie got to become a member of a photo club where one of the themed photo competitions was “ICE”. Having lived in tropical Thailand for over two decades and it being Australia’s summer at the time, Annelie decided to be creative with the ice she could easily get to —— the freezer. Icebound contains two categories: “frozen windows” and “frozen vegetables”; the frozen photos were all regular photos of vegetables at first, until they were frozen in water and held up to light, that’s the wonder behind those blocks of ice. In order to know more about the technique and enjoy the artworks, an actual visit is the best.

The exhibition is featured in a lovely space with a restaurant, cafe, a bar, and both indoor and outdoor sitting at Weave Artisan Society. A glass of wine or a cup of cappuccino sure sounds like a good match for a walk around the gallery.
