Chiang Mai residents and tourists are invited to experience a major Italian–Thai contemporary art event, “KOSMOS: Between Spirit & Matter,” showcasing cross-cultural creativity and new-generation artists.
“KOSMOS is about to promote young artists in Thailand,” explained Alberto Cosi, Italian Honorary Consul. “We’ve set up the event at our expense and give the chance for artists to showcase for free.”
“There will be a vote to find the winner, who will have a paid flight and stay in Tourin, Italy, where they can exhibit their artworks.”
Alberto added, “In these confusing times we can easily loose our direction, either spiritually or emotionally. We want to engage with the young generation, to understand their point of view through the expression of their inner feelings. We want to understand what is their relationship with the unknown and their unexplored conscience and emotions.”
Speaking at a press conference on 3rd February 2026 at the Riverside Reception House, Chalerm Phra Kiat Park (Chiang Mai Provincial Administrative Organisation), Chadathat Chantanaphan, Representative of the Honorary Consulate of Italy in Chiang Mai, together with Corrado Ferretti, founder of the Asian Art Century project, announced details of the event. The exhibition will take place from 4th-15th February 2026 at One Nimman Chiang Mai and Weave Artisan Society Chiang Mai.
The event is organised by Asian Art Century (a non-profit organisation) in collaboration with national and international partners, including the Honorary Consulate of Italy in Chiang Mai, the Italian Cultural Institute in Thailand, Paratissima Art Fair, and Thai and Italian organisations in the fields of art and the creative economy. The initiative aims to support emerging artists, promote Thai–Italian cultural exchange, and further position Chiang Mai as an international creative city.
KOSMOS: Between Spirit & Matter is a contemporary art exhibition exploring the “in-between space” of spirit and matter, intuition and technology, through artworks and digital media. Highlights include immersive and electronic performances by Italian artists, including “music from flowers,” panel discussions and learning activities on art, technology and culture, a special KOSMOS Spiritual Lounge, an AI Photo Booth experience, and the selection of more than 80 Thai artworks from over 450 submissions. Three selected artists will also receive grants to present their work at Paratissima in Italy.
Chiang Mai Province invites the public and visitors to discover this universe of Italian–Thai contemporary art at One Nimman Chiang Mai during the KOSMOS Live Festival on 7th-8th February 2026 (11am–8pm), and at Weave Artisan Society Chiang Mai, with the Grand Opening on 11th February 2026, followed by the KOSMOS Exhibition Festival from 12th-15th February 2026 (10am–8pm).
