Chiang Mai’s culinary stars are out again, and they’re not all wearing chef whites. The 2025 Michelin Guide shines a spotlight on everything from street-side legends to cosy local kitchens serving the kind of food that keeps us coming back. Here’s the full line-up of Bib Gourmands and Michelin-approved bites that put Chiang Mai on the map this year.
We won’t be posting about all 51 restaurants mentioned, by Michelin this year, but here is a list of the 18 selected in the bib gourmand category which is a special distinction in the guide given to restaurants that offer really good food at a good price.
Let’s start off with our dear friend and long time favourite Huan Soontaree, home of the mother-daughter songbirds—Soontaree Vechanont and Lanna Commins. Not only do you get to listen to classical and modern Lanna vocals while dining on the Ping, the northern Thai food is simply superb. Ask Michelin if you don’t believe us!

Magnolia Café is also another of our favourites, being next to one of our favourite wine outlets, the Wine Gallery, also helps! This is a small and cosy passion restaurant where the owner and chefs cook up vibrant and bold Thai dishes and desserts with premium Thai and imported products.

Then there is Guay Jub Chang Moi Tat Mai which sells out by about 1.30pm daily and we understand why! Chinese roll noodles are served in a rich and flavourful broth topped with crispy and crunchy pork.

There is also Khao Soi Mae Sai which serves up the famous northern Thai dish with a variety of toppings in a very curry-forward broth.

Euang Kam Sai also deserves some love, as this Lanna restaurant sits in a gorgeous wooden building in the stunning Old Chiang Mai Cultural Centre.

If you love you some chicken and rice then you can’t miss Dan Chicken Rice (San Sai) which has been serving cheap and cheerful khao man gai for over twenty years.
