Lumi at AMANOR is a dining experience guaranteed to woo and wow with its creative, fresh, delicious and very well crafted menu as well as an excellent cocktail and wine offering, all set in a compact space softened by a galaxy of tiny lights suspended from the ceiling. Dining here makes you feel as though you’re dining beneath a gentle canopy of stars—romantic without being overdone, refined yet warmly inviting.
But Lumi is more than just atmosphere. The restaurant delivers a confident take on modern Italian cuisine, thoughtfully interwoven with local ingredients and contemporary technique. At the helm is Chef Thanongsak ‘Prince’ Maneegard, whose journey into the kitchen began in Perth, Australia, where he studied commercial cookery and spent five to six formative years working in international kitchens before returning to Thailand and joining Lumi—initially as sous chef, now leading the kitchen as Chef de Cuisine.
Chef Prince describes Lumi’s food as borderless cuisine: Italian craft with local character, guided by personal expression. The result is a menu that feels familiar yet full of surprises, each dish carrying careful detail and quiet ambition.
The wood-fired pizzas are a highlight—thin, crisp bases emerging piping hot from the oven. The signature AMANOR Pizza layers fresh mozzarella, salami, bacon, blue cheese, mushrooms and truffle sauce into one indulgent, well-balanced whole. The Ham Lover Hawaiian offers a playful contrast of sweet pineapple, savoury parma ham and bacon, finished with stretchy mozzarella for a bright, satisfying bite and for deep satisfying indulgence, there’s s nothing that can beat the six cheese pizza.
For something lighter, Tuna Niçoise Italiano brings together seasonal greens with quality tuna, seared until delicately crisp on the outside while remaining medium-rare within, paired with quinoa for texture and nourishment.
Meat lovers should head straight for the braised Wagyu beef short ribs, sous-vide for 13 hours and marinated in red wine truffle sauce. Rich, tender and deeply flavoured, it’s served alongside silky Italian polenta—comfort food elevated. The Australian Wagyu prime rib, grain-fed for 200 days, is another standout, prized for its marbling, succulence and clean, beef-forward aroma.
Health-conscious diners will appreciate the pan-seared snow fish, golden on the outside, meltingly soft within, naturally sweet and cooked with restraint.
Local flavours also find a clever reinterpretation in Kao Soi 9, presented as ravioli filled with tender beef cheek or tender prawn and ricotta, while retaining the unmistakable spicy depth of Chiang Mai’s beloved curry noodle dish. This is a standout dish.
Dessert comes in the form of chocolate berries duo—a house-made pairing of chocolate mousse and dark chocolate, lifted by the gentle acidity of strawberries and raspberry sorbet for a well-judged, elegant finish.
Next time you are looking for somewhere special to go for some delightful bites, head on to Lumi.
