If you are a morning person (unlike most of us here at Citylife!) then you know that breakfast is key for starting the day off on the right foot. In Chiang Mai it can be hard to find a coffee shop that opens before 10am, so here is our wee list of early morning breakfast joints!

The Hideout

If you love bacon and eggs, this may be the place for you. Stupendous breakfast sets are served from 8am, including omelettes, French toast and the classic eggs and bacon. Their banana bread is also divine with a hot cup of coffee.

Open 8am – 5pm (Closed Mondays)

Smoothie Blues

This is a paradise for people who like their eggs benedicted and their sourdough bread toasted. Pair up a breakfast dish with a fresh fruit smoothie and start the day as you mean to go on.

Café Kai Luak

Experience a traditional early morning Thai breakfast of parboiled poached eggs or sweet duck egg custard that you can dip pla tong ko (Chinese style churros) into. Wash it down with a bright orange Thai milk tea and you’re good to go.

Jok Ton Pa Yom

Rice porridge is most tasty when you’re sick in bed or before the sun comes up. Here they serve it as early as 5am every morning, alongside a handful of Thai dishes and those deep fried pla tong ko sticks.

Open 5am – 12pm
Suthep Road

Kheng Dim Sum

Dim Sum is very popular as a breakfast in the South of Thailand. Here in Chiang Mai it’s not so easy to find so early in the morning, but this cosy option opens early.

Open 7am – 10pm

If you have a passion for the great big British breakfast, we have good news. We’re talking beans, eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausages and mushrooms — all the trimmings. If you aren’t counting calories, then this is a great way to start the day.
