Magokoro Teahouse and Matcha Café

Magokoro Teahouse and Matcha Café, (a new part of Meejai Hai Matcha) is re-opening, much to the joy of its fans. The presence of a tea house in the centre of Chiang Mai is great news for both tourist and locals who want to experience a traditional Japanese tea ceremony without the costly fights. The café also has Japanese-style gardens that you can stroll through or stop and sip your tea in.

We recommend the ikigai ceremonial set, a traditional set of tea used in ceremonies alongside a wagashi dessert that goes perfectly with the fresh green tea. Their signature cup is the Magokoro latte, made with rich green tea and frothy milk. Another version of this tea is the hojicha latte which uses hojicha powder, a roasted green tea that has less caffeine but a richer flavour.

Besides the tea, Magokoro serve rich desserts, such as the matcha kakigori, or Japanese shaved ice, served with green tea, red bean paste, moji and jellies.
