Love tiramisu? Well, check out the international award winning Amore Tiramisù & Cafe
Tucked out all the way in Nong Kwai, Amore Tiramisù & Cafe — officially Amore Italian food & pizza by the pool, which tells you quite a bit already — is the kind of place that takes its food seriously without taking itself too seriously.
The tiramisù is the headliner, and it has the credentials to back it up. Owner Roberta Santoni, who placed third during the qualification of the 2023 Tiramisu World Cup in Trevino, Italy, is the representative of the Tiramisù Club in Thailand and has also been a judge at the Tiramisù World Cup, which is a thing that exists and is apparently very serious indeed. The recipe follows the original from Treviso, balancing imported Italian ingredients with organic local ones, and the result — coffee-soaked ladyfingers, velvety mascarpone, a proper dusting of cocoa — earns the attention it gets. The pizza side of the operation is handled by David, who knows his way around a pizza oven, and the Italian Pool Aperitivo is worth driving out for: a family-style board of cold cuts and cheeses, meant for sharing poolside.
The setting is genuinely relaxed — open-air, poolside, resort-adjacent in feel and Chiang Mai casual. There is also an air-conditioned workshop room designed to feel like an Italian home, where Roberta runs hands-on tiramisù-making classes. You leave with technique, tips and an Official Tiramisù Maker certificate, which is perhaps more useful than it sounds at dinner parties.
Whether you are heading out for pizza by the water, a tiramisù that has been thought about more carefully than most, or an afternoon learning to make one yourself, Amore is worth the drive to Nong Kwai.
