Hua Hin has its pilgrimage food destinations and The Baguette — that’s been running for two decades — is firmly among them. Now, under the name Mae Rim Pie & Café, its owner Bow has brought the operation to Chiang Mai, tucking a compact glass-fronted bakery into the greenery of Mae Rim district.
The setup suits the location: an outdoor terrace, valley views and with an unhurried vibe that makes a slow morning here feel earned. Everything is made from scratch — dough mixed, fillings cooked, no preservatives, no ready-made shortcuts — and the freshly baked goods are cold-transported up from the Hua Hin kitchen to maintain consistency across branches.
Pies are the draw: minced beef, chicken in white sauce, pork, toddy palm, apple — all with properly buttery, flaky pastry and generous fillings. The newer addition worth noting is a Chiang Mai spicy sausage croissant, the café’s own northern sausage wrapped in laminated dough, fragrant with lemongrass and herbs. Raspberry tart, spinach and cheese bake, and orange tiramisu round things out, alongside sandwiches, banana walnut crumble cake, mashed potato gratin and boxed pastries that travel well as gifts.
