Old-timers here will know this shop well. But if you haven’t been, you are in for a treat. This Royal Project Shop sits just off Suthep Road on the grounds of the Chiang Mai University’s Faculty of Agriculture.

A beautifully designed wooden and glass building, it is a pleasure to wander its aisles looking for seasonal surprises which often include rarities such as artichokes and Brussels sprouts.

There is also a bakery and café on premises serving food and drinks made from Royal Project produce from salads to herbal drinks. The shop itself sells frozen food as well as processed food as well. There is a salad bar right in the middle of the shop where you can choose from up to 30 different fruits and vegetables, packing them up and taking them home, or to a table in the courtyard to enjoy with a cup of coffee.

The coffee beans served come from a total of 39 coffee growing stations across the north of Thailand which have all met Single Origin standards.

A recommended coffee is the Mehsana coffee which is served with the high vitamin Mehsana buffalo milk from the Mae Tha Nuea Royal Project Foundation, Mae On. If you are looking for a light bite, then also order the chicken sandwich pesto sauce which uses whole-wheat bread and is served with some crispy salad. Or for something sweeter, settle in with a freshly baked scone filled with prunes and served with whipped cream and jam.
