Get sweaty and juiced up on adrenaline as you visit one of these gyms in Chiang Mai. Whether you are looking for some cardio, endurance or just to lift something heavy, we’ve got you covered.

Moo Baa Strongman Gym
Welcome to the world of dead weights, farmer walks, hammer hits and yoke lifts. This is Chiang Mai’s first gym dedicated to strongman style workouts — focusing on lifting, pulling and bench pressing the heaviest thing you physically manage. The owner can help you train when you visit, but apart from that you are left to chalk your palms and lift. They have all kinds of equipment, such as log weights, yoke, bench presses, giant tyres, and weights of all shapes and sizes. 80 baht a day or 1,100 baht a month. If you want to sign up for a year, taking ‘the test’ will give you half off! All you need to do is lift your bodyweight overhead, deadlift twice your body weight and farmer walk ¾ of your body weight on each hand — piece of cake!

Open 6am – midnight
144/1 Moo 14 Suthep Road, Soi 7 (Next to Uniloft Apartments)

Burn It Up Fitness Studio
This new, personal sized gym has opened up within the M Sport Complex on the old Sankampaeng Road. Despite its small size, there is space for everyone in this gym that focuses on Yoga, Zumba and Weight Training through a series of courses throughout the day. Whoever becomes a member automatically gets use of the regular gym for free, or for those looking for a quick burst on the treadmill then it’s just 100 baht for the day. The gym is fully stocked with brand new equipment, lockers, changing rooms and showers and it offers nice views out over the driving range found in the complex. Trainers are on site and help teach you, train you, warm you up and even give you that push you need to beat your own records. It is fully air-conditioned too, so you need not worry about getting too hot and bothered.

CrossFit
Now at a new location along the Chotana Road, Chiang Mai’s CrossFit has grown in size and in numbers. For anyone into a truly punishing workout that really gets the blood going, then this is the place for you. Their endurance courses are not for the faint hearted but if you complete a session without fainting, you’re truly a worthy contender. Every month they will host a number of competitions and events such as throwdowns and the like that bring along a competitive streak to those who frequent the gym. In fact, CrossFit is all about the competitiveness so expect to be pitched against your peers from the moment you arrive. You can join monthly or daily and there are a series of courses and sessions to choose from throughout the week in both the early morning and late afternoon.
