The Consul’s Garden was the private home of British Consul William Alfred Rae Wood who was stationed in Chiang Mai between 1921 and 1970. He was the author of the popular book, “Consul in Paradise; Sixty-eight Years in Siam. This vast piece of land with an English garden sloping down to the riverbanks has a remarkable 100 plus year old raintree as its center and encompasses three buildings, built by Wood. His residence has, for over four decades now, been the home of award winning restaurant Le Coq d’Or; and now the garden is open for your pleasure.
