1st Chiang Mai International Ceramic Arts and Culture Exhibition

The 1st Chiang Mai International Ceramic Arts and Culture Symposium was held on August 15th, to kick-start its exhibition at the Chiang Mai City Arts & Cultural Center which will continue until 29th September.

The exhibition displays 50 pieces of works from 30 artists from 10 countries; Lithuania, Croatia, United Stated, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Romania, Turkey, and Thailand. Artworks from leading ceramic studios in Chiang Mai were also included in the exhibition such Have A Hug Studio, Inclay Studio Pottery, and Charm Learn Studio.

Puridon Pimsan, one of the ceramic artists and a founder of Have A Hug Studio said, “ceramic arts shows the development and civilisation of arts and cultures.” The exhibition aims to enhance the potential of ceramic artists in northern Thailand by creating with local materials which can be widely promoted to international audiences and markets.

Each artwork was created in order to present the artist’s perspective on art, literature and stories, such as a ceramic sculpture inspired by author Mala Khamchan’s Lady Moon’s Sweet Hair, which is inspired by the representation of the human mind in a rapidly changing society.

The exhibition period is from 15th August until 29th September (closed Mondays) at the Chiang Mai City Arts & Cultural Centre between 8.30 am until 5.00 pm.
