Three great eateries, each with its own loyal following, have recently opened new branches and we couldn’t wait to check them out.
Rock Me Burger
It’s within a few minutes’ walk of Warm Up, which surely is one of the reasons Rock Me Burger, of Loy Kroh success and fame, decided to brave the competitive burger scene in Nimmanhaemin. Rock Me Burger serves massive, decadent, juicy, topping-overflowing burgers, sandwiches, ribs, hot dogs and all the accoutrements you love in your favourite fast and comfort foods — fries, onion rings, twirly fries, coleslaw, melted cheeses, etc. This rockin’ burger joint now has a small, but still stylishly grungy, street side venue down soi 15, serving up all the Loy Kroh favourites. Sit on a street-side bar stool, listen to great rock music and sop up your sins with a ginormous burger dripping with cheeses and sauces, before heading back into the night life of Nimman.
Open 11am – 11.30pm
Nimmanhaemin Soi 15, T. Suthep

There is nothing more frustrating than fantasising about a big fry-up breakfast, only to realise that you have missed the 10am breakfast kitchen deadline. And that is why Smoothie Blues has long been an institution for breakfast lovers living in Nimmanhaemin, serving up Thai and international breakfasts from dawn to well after dusk. If you don’t live on the west side of the city, you are now in for a treat, as Smoothie Blues has opened up a new branch right bang smack in the middle of the Tha Pae Gate complex. This simple diner serves up healthy mueslis, porridges, rice congee, fresh fruits and of course smoothies, all day long. And if you are looking for the less healthy, then we love the eggs, bacon and sausage muffin with scrambled eggs! A great all day breakfast diner to cure you of all of last night’s ails…or to give you a fresh and energising start to the day – whatever time you start your day!

Recipients of Chiang Mai Eats’ Facebook community of 7000 members’ vote as Best Breakfast in Chiang Mai for three years running, Overstand is not only standing firmly on its two feet, but also stepping into the crazy fray that is Nimmanhaemin. With a loyal following, this all day breakfast joint focuses on the healthy, creative and innovative and while its menu is limited, it is well curated and crafted, with mouthwatering dishes from health food smoothes to vegan and vegetarian toasts, sliders and pizzas. If you like a bit of meat, then definitely try the sourdough sandwiches, overflowing with succulent and tasty goodness such as the Cuban with its brown sugar cured ham, pulled pork and cheese or the brisket which comes with cheddar, red onion and mustard. Produce is, as far as possible, all locally grown as is the roasted fresh coffees. You’ll also be glad to hear that the prices aren’t pang and easily affordable.
