Yingluck Sends Money off to Communities all over Thailand

CityNews – The National Village and Urban Community Fund Office hosted the SML (Small-Medium-Large) money transfer to nationwide communities on 24th May 2012. Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra pressed the button that started off a nationwide dissemination of government funds.

She also held a conference via video link and told people all over Thailand that the funds should be used intelligently and in adherence to the concepts of sufficiency economy.

On 24th May at 8.30 a.m., at the Santi Mitree building, Government House of Thailand, Yingluck opened the SML initiative, a scene that was broadcasted all over Thailand.

The PM told the media that SML is one of government’s main focuses and something that makes them very proud. She added that it will be beneficial for many people in the country. The government thinks that when the community is strong, the national economy will also be strong.

The government will not get involved with the money that has been transferred, but the community should follow sufficiency economy, said Yingluck. The total of the money sent is 30,000 million baht, distributed between 80,000 communities all over Thailand. The communities are categorised in three levels: S = small villages, which get 300,000 baht each, M = medium villages, which get 400,000 baht each, and L = large villages, which get 500,000 baht each.
