Two Arrested in Case of Missing Pseudoephedrine
CityNews – Provincial Police Region 5 officers arrested two pharmaceutical sales staff on April 17th for having conspired with a drug storage room agent to steal pseudoephedrine. Suparada Thongthieng and Mayuree Luangrueng (glasses) have been charged with selling Psychotropic Substance Schedule 2 without the permit, forgery, and using forged documents.
Pol.Lit.Gen. Suthep Dejraksa, the president of Police Region 5, and Pol.Maj.Gen. Chamnan Ruadrew, told the media they had earlier secured a warrant for the arrest of the two from Chiang Mai Provincial Court. They explained how arrestees had worked as pharmaceutical sales people working with hospitals all over the city, and that part of their job was to distribute drugs containing pseudoephedrine which is a composite of methamphetamine, or ‘ya ice’ as it is known in Thailand on the streets.
Prior to the arrests a 32 year old Pitsinee Prasertsri was arrested for stealing 5,000 pseudoephedrine pills from Chiang Mai Central Memorial hospital. After interrogation by police she admitted to conspiring to steal the medicine with the Suparada and Mayuree.
