Updated: Third Albino Common Barking Deer Born in Thailand to Great Fanfare

CityNews – On 11th October, Thanapatra Pongsepamorn, CEO of the Chiang Mai Zoo, announced with great pride that a baby albino common barking deer had been born, only the third of its kind to be born within Thailand. The first being Khun Petch, the grandfather of the baby bambi. The baby deer is reported to be in fine health.

Native to Indochina, Indonesia, Southern China, Sri Lanka and India, barking deer are a protected species in Thailand, but albinos are very rare.

UPDATE: Today, 12th October, it was announced that the rare albino barking deer did not make it through the night.
