The Northern Metrological Centre issues Warning – Typhoon ‘Kai-Tak’ on its way – possible flooding

CityNews – The Northern Metrological Centre, under the authority of Ministry of Information Communication and Technology, issued an announcement on 17th August, 8 a.m. that on 17th August at 4 a.m. a typhoon called Kai-Tak hit China 200 kilometres east away of Hainan Island. Northen Thailand will soon feel the effects of Kai-Tak.

The maximum wind speed recorded 120 kilometres / hour. The typhoon is now moving northwest at about 25 kilometres / hour and will hit the Hainan Coast today. This will impact northern Thailand and the region will see widespread, heavy rain from 17th – 19th August. People living near waterways should be aware of the risk of floods.
