Swedish Tourist Dies Mysteriously in a Guesthouse near Somphet Market
CityNews – A 30 year old Swedish tourist has been found dead at the Jocker Brother Guesthouse located at 18/5 Ratchawithi Road in downtown Chiang Mai. At this time police say the cause of death of the man, named Oman Reiner, 30, from Sweden, is unknown.
On September 27th at 11.30 am, Pol.Capt Watcharaphol Yamakerd of Muang Chiang Mai Police Station, was informed that a foreign man had been found dead in his room at his guesthouse near Somphet Market intersection. Police and a forensic team, along with a rescue team went to the scene.
At the 2 floor building, ground floor coffee shop and tattoo shop, second floor 4 room budget guesthouse, they found the body of Reiner. He had been wearing a gray t-shirt and khaki pants. His face was found up against a pillow and there was some blood on his right leg. Police cannot specify the exact cause of death at this point.
Yutthachai Jiemjitrat, 30, the owner of the guesthouse, told police that Reiner had stayed at the guesthouse alone for more than 7 months. He told police that Reiner had been to Suan Prung Hospital for psychiatric treatment in the past. Yutthachai informed police that every month 30,000 baht had been transferred to Reiner’s account and so he didn’t need to work. He also said that a thin Thai woman, over 30 years old, visited Reiner at the room often.
On the day of the accident Yutthachai said that he was going to clean but when he arrived at the room he saw that the door was open. He looked inside and saw the dead body of Reiner. A forensic team at Suan Dok Hospital are currently performing an autopsy.
