Pseudoephedrine Pills Pulled From Shelves

CityNews – The Ministry Of Public Health has recently announced that pharmacies can no longer buy any drug containing pseudoephedrine from distributors, nor can they own the drug, and that now it will be strictly controlled. Drug stores must return pseudoephedrine based medications back to the distributors immediately or they will face punishment.

Pulling back the pills

It was also announced that private hospitals and clinics will now have to ask for permission to own the medicine. Government hospitals are still using the drug, but each hospital will discuss whether or not to replace it with other medicines.

If pseudoephedrine is found in stores from now on, less than five kilograms of the drug can result in1-5 years in prison and a fine of 40,000 – 100,000 baht.

Pseudoephedrine is used to make ‘ice’ or crystal methamphetamine. Recently there has been a national case surrounding missing pseudoephedrine all over Thailand.
