Prisoners at Chiang Mai Jail Busted with Forks and Spoons

CityNews – The Chiang Mai Governor Panadda Diskul, together with 600 officers and police dogs, busted into Chiang Mai jail on 19th May early in the morning.

Of the 4,335 prisoners in Chiang Mai jail 60 percent of them in for drugs cases. The police had thought that prisoners might be hiding drugs in jail though after a search was conducted no drugs were found on any prisoner. However pornographic books were found, as well as coffee, lighters, cigarettes, spoons and forks, playing cards, dye, and rope – thought to be useful for escape from jail.

The Chief of Chiang Mai Jail, Pirun Norkeaw, told the media that: “In previous searches 200 amphetamine pills 47 mobile phones were seized. Since 1st May 2012, we have had new restrictions in the jail making it so visitors cannot bring any gifts, nor send any parcels, to the prisoners.”
