Prapat Wins Lamphun Mayoral Election

CityNews – On July 8th the Lamphun Munipal Council held their mayoral election and the Office of Election Commission tallied the votes. The official result in the race had Prapat Phucharoen from the Khunnatham Party winning the election with 3,648 votes. Mr. Phucharoen was a ex-mayor and will be returning to his former post. In second place, Kiatchai Pornpirita of the Rak Lamphun party received 2,855 votes.

The election covered three districts and there were fourteen polling stations servicing 9,941 voters. Voter turnout was rather high at slightly over 70% as 6,966 people came out to make their voices heard. 6,503 ballots were properly filled and counted, 146 were voided because of problems, and 314 were left blank.
