Police Raid House of Man Suspected of Being Drug Kingpin

CityNews – On 15th August, 30 Police along with the director of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board,brought a search warrant to a house in Sanpuloei, Doi Saket, Chiang Mai, as well as two other houses police say  are the property of Somchai Rakyodying, a suspected drug lord and the man behind much of the pseudoephedrine distribution of late.

The police found packs of marijuana at the first house in Doi Saket, and then moved to a house in Sankamphaeng where the police found a woman who claimed to be the owner of the house and said she was the ex-wife of Somchai. The police seized the house and one car. The police moved again, this time to another property in Sankamphaeng. All of the seized assets are valued at more than 10 million baht.

A police colonel said that following an investigation they believe the pills found stashed in Sankamphaeng in March belonged to Somchai Rakyodying and his friends. A warrant was issued to search Somchai’s properties but it is believed that Somchai had already escaped to Burma. It is also believed that Somchai carries two passports; Thai and Burmese.
