New Chinese Consul Says Hi to Panda on her 3.3 Anniversary
CityNews – On 27th August, 9.30 a.m., Zhang Weicai, the new Chinese Consul General of Chiang Mai along with his wife went to Chiang Mai Zoo to attend the ‘Three Years and Three Months in Chiang Mai’ Anniversary of Lin Ping the panda.
The consul general gave the panda a card, though she did not receive it with her paws. He wished her happiness, ‘happiness as deep as the ocean’, and hoped that she would have a long life, ‘as long as the mountains’ life’.
Chiang Mai Zoo gave her iced sweets in three colours and three layer cake decorated with lotus flowers, bamboo leaves, and fruits, including persimmons, golden oranges, peaches and dragon fruit. The panda also enjoyed playing with a lion model earlier created by Chiang Mai Zoo.
The consul general said thank you to Chiang Mai Zoo for taking good care of the beloved bear, who has now become a superstar and big business for the zoo. It’s also said that Lin Ping is a sign of goodwill between Thailand and China.
Regarding Lin Ping’s stay in Thailand the consul said he would try his best to make sure the wonder bear stays in Chiang Mai.
