Wattana said each year he receives reports about deaths related to toxic mushroom, that unfortunately sometimes involve entire families when food had been prepared in a household. Since the beginning of 2012 there have been 16 people poisoned by mushrooms and one fatality.
Wattana said that many of the mushrooms in the forest are toxic. He added that people need to know the difference from edible and toxic mushrooms, he said people can know the difference by looking at their colors and shapes. If the mushrooms don’t look like the ones we normally eat then don’t try and use them said the doctor, as most unusal mushrooms are toxic.
