CityNews – On 4th October, 10 a.m. Police Region 5 held a press conference after they arrested Satit Kitikam (28) who had been found selling illegally imported drugs including beauty drugs and weight loss drugs.

Oh, to be beautiful…

According to the report on 3rd October, Chiang Mai City Police Station had received a tip-off that beauty drugs and weight loss drugs would be coming into to Thailand from abroad without passing through customs.

Police went to a house at 424/12 Moo 6, Mae Hia, Muang, Chiang Mai, and found Satit driving his truck containing drugs. When  the vehicle was checked the drugs were found.

Satit told police that he ordered all the drugs from Mae Sai in Chiang Rai, which had come from China, Korea and India. After receiving the drugs he repackaged them himself and sold to customers in Chiang Mai.

Pharmacist Issara Nanwichit, the head of the Consumer Protection Department from Chiang Mai Public Health Office, warned people that if they use cheap cosmetic products that have not been through rigorous testing then it could be dangerous for the user. She mentioned glutathione, used in slimming pills, that he said had many side effects including possible overdose and death.

Her advice to people desiring these products: “People should do exercise to maintain a fit body and good health.”
