HRH Srirasmi Visits Chiang Mai to Promote Breastfeeding

CityNews – On July 17th at 11:30 a.m., HRH Srirasmi Princess Consort to the Crown Prince of Thailand went to the 80th Anniversary Building to check on the Tambon Nom Mae at The Learning Centre directed by the Family Love Bonding Project.

Her mission at the project was to find out about the status of breastfeeding in Thailand. The princess was greeted by numerous dignitaries and saw her adoring public during the visit. Afterwards Governor Dissakul briefed her highness on the status of the project.

Princess Srirasmi went to see exhibitions at the centre including ones devoted to social strategies and taking care of infants. The breastfeeding project has been run since 2005 by the Breastfeeding Club of Chiang Mai. Members of the group have gone to many local communities to advocate breastfeeding to mothers. Much progress has been shown recently as in 2006 only one third of women in the area breastfed, but in 2011, 82.69% of women practiced.
