Happy Birthday Thaksin Shinawatra Sing Crowds in Chiang Mai

CityNews – On July 26th, at 9 a.m., 300 Red Shirts from Chiang Mai Tuk-Tuk Co-Operative, with their leader Mahawan Kawang, a DJ from 105.50 MHz Chiang Mai, went to Wat Don Jan in 200 tuk-tuks to make a blessing to prolong the life of Thaksin Shinawatra, the ex-Prime Minister of Thailand, on his birthday.

Love for Thaksin

The group was welcomed by Phra Prachanat Munee, the abbot of Wat Don Jan, who led the ceremony. The ceremony lasted for 30 minutes. A photograph of Thaksin was put on a stand and then worshipped according to Lanna ceremonial rites.

Mahawan said he was very proud of the ex-PM because he was from Chiang Mai and had become the leader of the country by democratic election. He said that Thaksin was the person he loved most in the world.

After the ceremony the group treated 750 students at Wat Don Jan School to lunch and then gave 9 candles to 9 temples in Chiang Mai: Wat Mhuen Ngeun Kong, Wat Dab Pai, Wat Chaiprakiat, Wat Chiang Man, Wat Duang Dee, Wat Loy Khroa and Wat Chai Mongkol.
