German Tourist Found Dead in Guesthouse
CityNews – The central Chiang Mai police station received a call on Monday 19th from a guesthouse (as yet unnamed) explaining that a man was found dead in his room.
Tourist police, Chiang Mai rescue, and a forensic team from Suan Dok hospital arrived at the guesthouse to find Goebal Gunter, German, 43 years old. The police said that he had most likely been dead for five days. On the scene the police reported that they found a bottle of whiskey, one can of beer, sleeping pills, painkillers, and allergy pills in the room.
The owner of the guesthouse informed police that Gunter checked-in on 6th March and the last day he was seen was on 14th March. He explained that he knocked on the door to collect the room fee, but no one answered the door. The owner also said there was a bad smell coming from the room. When he unlocked the door with an extra key he saw the dead body.
The body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Department at Saun Dok hospital for an autopsy.
