The police arrived and found the body of Sombat Salagam (43) a mahout from Surin Province. The mahout has been with his elephant, Boon Nam, when the elephant went on a rampage beating Sombat to death by beating on his body with its trunk.

A police investigation revealed that Sombat had known that the elephant had been in a temper most of the day and was worried about the animal’s behavior so he brought a spear with him to the resort in case anything happened.
