Drugs Prevention Workshop in Chiang Rai with High Hopes

CityNews – The Office of Narcotic Control Bureau Region 5 will host a workshop about drugs prevention on 25th August, 2 – 4 p.m., at Kodchasarn Building, Main Stadium, Chiang Rai Administrative Organisation Office.

This workshop is intended to help government employees understand the drug policy and anti-drug campaigns. Chalerm Yubamrung, the deputy prime minister of Thailand, will also attend the workshop.

Wichai Chaimongkol, the director of Office Narcotic Control Bureau Region 5, said the drug problem is one of Thailand’s biggest problems. The government’s anti-drug campaigns, reminiscent of the flawed Say No to Drugs campaigns that failed in the west during the 80s, have so far not worked in Thailand, either.

PM Yingluck Shinawatra has new strategies in place to overcome the drug problems. It was Yingluck who ordered the deputy prime minister to arrange the meeting in Chiang Rai.
