Cost of Food Rising Slightly Says Government After Price Surveys at Chiang Mai Gate Market
CityNews – The cost of pork and chicken, the staples of a Thai diet, is stable says the local government, while the cost of vegetables has risen slightly due to seasonal change says a government team made up of M.L. Panadda Diskul, the Chiang Mai Governor with the Office of Commercial Affairs Chiang Mai and Head of Department of Internal Trade Chiang Mai.

On 26th June, 10 a.m., the team surveyed the Chiang Mai Gate Market in order to note the price of products as well as to check the quality and cleanliness of products and market.
Panjit Pitsawong, the head of the Office of Commercial Affairs Chiang Mai, said that according to the Consumer Price Index of Chiang Mai there had been an increase of 0.9% from April to May in overall costs. In the food category prices had risen, but in other categories such as petroleum, the price had decreased.
