Chiang Mai FC Close to Winning the League
CityNews – Otherwise known as ‘The Lanna Tigers’ Chiang Mai FC is still on the top of the AIS Regional League for the Northern Region after their victory over ‘The Blades’ Uttaradit FC on 2nd September at the 700 Year Stadium.Abobacar Sanogo scored the goal
In the first half, CMFC dominated the game and tried very hard to take the lead, though The Blades also put up a good fight. In the 35th minute, Uttaradit surprised on lookers and Abass Masawudu took lead and scored first. The Tigers upped their game and scored with a very fast direct free kick taken by their best midfielder named Wutthipan Panthalee, the teams equalised on 1-1. Before the first half ended, CMFC had many chances, but didn’t put the ball to the back of the net.
In the 69th minute of the second half Aboubacar Sanogo Junior, a Senegalese player in substitute, scored 18 yards away from the goal, making the score 2-1 to CMFC. Aboubacar Sanogo Junior scored another for CMFC in the 85th minute, creating a new score of 3-1. In the additional time, Uttaradit had 10 players left after their goalkeeper was given a foul and the referee showed him a red card. The game finished on 3-1 with CMFC winning the game.
Udornpan Jantaraviroj, Chiang Mai FC’s president said CMFC will surely win the league. “We should be celebrating as the champions at the next game.”
