According to the International Civil Organization (ICAO), every airport must have an emergency drill at least once every 2 years.
Airlines along with Chiang Mai airport, the Public Health Office, and other government agencies held a conference beforehand on how a drill should be practiced and then they held sessions for an emergency drill.
The purpose of the drill is to improve understanding and communication between the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and individuals inside the airport.
‘The Tabletop exercise’ was used to simulate a real emergency atmosphere such as a plane high-jack.
The drill may hopefully help to reduce the possibility of deaths or loss of property and increase security for people who visit Chiang Mai in the future.
