Campaign to Prevent Deadly Strain of Dengue Fever

CityNews – Chiang Mai Municipality has set up a campaign in an effort to decrease the prevalence of the aedes genus mosquito which is the cause of hemorrhagic fever.

On 30th May 2012 at Thapae Gate, Tassanai Buranupakorn, the Chiang Mai Mayor along with his team led activities campaigning for hemorrhagic fever prevention. Tassanai informed the public that Chiang Mai lost quite a few citizens to the fever in the past few years. In 2010, three people died. In 2011, 600 people suffered from dengue fever and four died. This year he hoped they could reduce these numbers.

Ping on the rise

After days of heavy rains across Chiang Mai, the Ping River’s water levels are being closely monitored by authorities as water levels continue to tide at about 5cm per hour.
