British Ambassador Visits Chiang Mai and CityNews Talks to the Man about Political Life and Living in Thailand
CityNews – Asif Ahmad, British Ambassador to Thailand paid a visit to Chiang Mai July 30th before leaving Thailand in August.
During his visit met representatives of the British community to hear their views of living in Northern Thailand. The visit also included meetings with Chiang Mai Governor M.L. Panadda Disakul, Chiang Mai Mayor Tasanai Burananupakorn, Police Maj Gen Watthana Sakkawat, Deputy Commissioner Provincial Police Region 5, and a group of volunteers who have worked on charity and humanitarian projects and activities in the region.
The Ambassador is also scheduled to visit McKean Rehabilitation Centre where he will meet Mrs. Heather Smith, Deputy Director and observe the Centre’s operations. The visit includes a media session with reporters in the province. The interview with CityNews will follow shortly.
Ahead of his visit, the Ambassador said “Chiang Mai has always been a popular destination for British tourists and is home to over 1000 British residents. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting the city many times as Ambassador and as a tourist. I look forward to meeting representatives of the British community and discussing some of their concerns with the Thai authorities.”
