Assistant Village Head Kills his Wife with a Shovel

CityNews – Police have arrested Nikom Tewin (35), the assistant village head of Ban Som Suk in Sa Laung, Mae Rim for the murder of his wife.

On 2nd October, 11 a.m., Mae Rim Police Station told the press that 1st October, about 5 p.m. they received a call saying that a ewoman had been murdered. Police and doctors from Nakornping Hospital arrived at a house in Ban Som Suk and found the body of Supaporn Tewin (44) the wife of Nikom Tewin.

Police said that the women had been hit with extreme force to the back of her head with a shovel. The couple’s 14 year-old daughter told police that around 2.30 a.m.the morning before Nikom had had an argument with Supaporn.

“I was asked to leave the house to stay with my relatives,” the child told police, adding “When I came back in the afternoon, I found my mother dead and my dad had driven his pick-up truck somewhere.”

A search went out for Nikom and around 7 p.m. the following night he was found driving his pick-up truck back to his house. Nikom confessed that he had beaten his wife to death with a shovel. He took police to the area where he had buried his clothes and the murder weapon.

Nikom told police that he had lived with Supaporn for four years, but recently she had become difficult and nagging. The night he killed her he said she had been drinking and came back home in an argumentative mood.  When their daughter woke up because of the noise Nikom told police that Supaporn tried to attack her. He said he pushed Supaporn away and hit her with the shovel many times around the head. He then left.

He told police that, “I was not running away. I just wanted to calm myself down.”
