400 People in Chiang Mai Infected with Hand Foot and Mouth Disease – Chiang Mai Ranks Highly for Dengue Fever Infections too
CityNews – Chiang Mai Provincial Administration Organisation with the Chiang Mai Public Health Office have been campaigning in an effort to prevent any more Hand Foot and Mouth disease spreading in Chiang Mai.
There has been nationwide infections, and now more than 400 cases in Chiang Mai.
In the whole of Thailand, from 1st January – 15th July, there have been 17,656 infections and one known death due to hand, foot and mouth disease. The northern part of the country has had the most infections – 40.89 infections out of 100,000 people. Chiang Mai also has the highest ranking of dengue fever cases in the country – 300 people since the rainy season started.
Wisarurat said hand, toot and mouth disease is an infection seen in Thailand every year, particularly in rainy season. Children under five years old should be observed for any abnormalities in their health until the rainy season ends. If kids have a high fever they should go to see a doctor immediately.
