New Elections After Disgraced MP Stands Down

CityNews – Today was the first day of the registration process for the Region 3 elections to be held in June. The only candidate that came to register on the opening day was Kasem Nimmolrat, a member of the Pheu Thai Party. He may have been the only person to register though people turned up to show him support, donning red shirts and cheering.

The Chiang Mai region three electoral area covers the Doi Saket, San Kamphaeng, and Mae On districts. Registration started 7th May, 2012,and lasts until 11th May 2012. The election will be 2nd June, 2012.

The seat was previously held by Chinicha Wongsawat who was recently banned from any political activity for five years after being charged with corruption.
