ASEAN Basketball Championships to Take Place July 3-7 at 700 Year Stadium

CityNews – The ASEAN Basketball League has chosen Chiang Mai’s 700 Year Stadium as the venue for the ASEAN basketball championships, which will take place July 3-7. The winning and runner-up teams will join the final competition with the rest of the Asia teams in Tokyo, Japan.

Wicha Kunrat, secretary of the Basketball Association of Thailand, as well as Ritiphong Thaechaphun, deputy governor of Chiang Mai, announced that five ASEAN countries will be participating, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.  All the countries will compete with each other. Wicha and Ritiphong also stated that they hoped that the international competition would renew Thailand’s interest in the sport, and turn more youths towards playing it.
