Make your own essential oils & hydrosols workshop

June 28

Essential oils are highly concentrated aromatic liquids extracted from plants and flowers by means of distillation. From ancient Egypt and the Ayurvedic medicine of India, to Arabian perfumery and the emergence of modern ‘aromatherapy’, essential oils have been used to heal and beautify the body for thousands of years. Considered as embodying the soul of a given plant or flower, essential oils also play a vital role in the ancient art of alchemy – the Art that lies at the heart of the inner traditions of both East and West.

Sometimes referred to as distillate, floral, herbal, or essential waters, hydrosols are made from the condensed water captured after the steam distillation of plants and flowers. As co-products of the distillation process, hydrosols have been used for centuries by traditional medicine practitioners. Less concentrated than essential oils, hydrosols are especially suitable for the elderly, young children and the highly sensitive, and are increasingly popular ingredients in natural and organic skincare remedies.
