San Pa Khoi–Wat Ket Moves Toward Nomad-Friendly District, Invites Ideas for Future Development
On March 18, 2026, the Nomad Friendly District (NFD) working group hosted a public forum, “The Future of San Pa Khoi–Wat Ket and Opportunities from Digital Nomads,” at Cult Caffeine (CC) on Charoen Muang Road, Chiang Mai. The event brought together over 50 local entrepreneurs and community members.
The session highlighted the district’s strengths, including its cultural diversity, unique architecture, authentic local lifestyle, and walkable environment. Participants agreed that digital nomads present a strong opportunity to boost the local economy, support new businesses, and promote the area internationally.
Key concerns discussed included a shortage of mid-term accommodation (1–6 months), infrastructure gaps such as internet and transport, and potential social impacts from increased tourism.
Proposed solutions focused on preparing the community—especially through language training—and creating activities that connect locals with nomads to ensure inclusive and balanced growth.
Participants concluded that embracing digital nomads could drive sustainable development while preserving the district’s identity and enhancing its future potential
