Sports & Wellness Press Briefing at Central Chiang Mai Airport

March 30

Chiang Mai province is pushing sports tourism under its Wellness City initiative with two upcoming events. The “King of E-Sport” competition runs 9th-10th May at Chiang Mai Hall, featuring three titles — Arena of Valour, Free Fire and FC Online — open to players aged 15–25 (FC Online has no age restriction). Online qualifiers run from late April, with finals drawing 32, 48 and 16 teams respectively across the three games. A gaming expo and streamer show matches will accompany the finals. The second event, Doi Suthep Night Run 2026, takes 500 runners up the mountain after dark, with full course lighting, marshals, medical teams and live music along the route. Both events sit under the provincial government’s Chiang Mai Wellness City project for fiscal year 2026, aimed at diversifying tourism and boosting the local economy. Registration for the e-sport competition opens 1st April.
