WASIN presents THE PAST, RECREATED BY WASIN, an exhibition exploring the relationship between memory, craftsmanship, Lanna textile heritage and contemporary design.
Opening today at the Chiang Mai City Arts & Cultural Centre, the exhibition runs from 4–29 October 2026 and invites audiences to consider a fundamental question:
How can textiles inherited from the past continue to live in the present — and be carried forward into the future?
Drawing from textiles in his personal Archive Collection, including pieces associated with the era of Princess Dara Rasmi, Wasin examines the ideas and ways of dressing that shaped their time.
Rather than reproducing the past, he studies its underlying language — the structure of the sinh, the measured rhythm of its tin chok borders, colours derived from nature, weaving techniques and the knowledge held in the hands of artisans.
These elements are then reinterpreted through Wasin’s own design language. Silhouettes, proportions, colours, patterns and gestures of wearing are placed into new relationships, responding to the rhythms, sensibilities and lives of the present.

The exhibition also traces Wasin’s creative journey since 2012, from an early fascination with textiles and the beginnings of his archive to years of collecting, studying and working with traditional cloth.
For Wasin, the textile archive has never been simply a collection of objects to be kept untouched. It functions instead as an ongoing source of knowledge and inspiration — a foundation from which new
