“Siamese Fighting Fish – the Beauty of Siam” at Anantara Chiang Mai Resort

Renowned photographer Visarute Angkatavanich is well known around the world for his stunning portraits of “Pla Kad” the Siamese fighting fish – the national aquatic symbol of Thailand.  In partnership with the Anantara Hotels & Resorts Group, a photographic exhibition “Siamese Fighting Fish – the Beauty of Siam” will be featured at Anantara properties including Anantara Chiang Mai Resort during 1 – 30 November 2019.  Free of charge, the exhibition will showcase the magical beauty and enchanting grace of these colourful and exotic ornamental fishes as well as reveal their fascinating history.

The Siamese fighting fish is an aggressive fighter and is very important to the history, culture, society and commerce of Thailand.  Their brilliant colours, flowing fins and sweeping tails are so unique and striking in appearance that Visarute’s dazzling photographs have been used to launch one of the world’s leading mobile phones, causing a sensation around the world.  The Anantara Hotels & Resorts Group is a Thai hospitality brand which highlights Thai traditions and culture through architecture and decorations as well as thoughtful and friendly services.  As Anantara Thailand appreciates the exquisite and unique identity of the Siamese fighting fish, a photographic exhibition “Siamese Fighting Fish – the Beauty of Siam” is the perfect platform to present the priceless value and beauty of these aquatic jewels for all fighting-fish aficionados and art lovers who can marvel at the works of world renown photographer Visarute Angkatavanich who has put forward the Siamese fighting fish to become one of Thailand’s unique identities.  The brilliant colours and poetic movements of these underwater fighters have been perfectly captured through his lens and imagination as now can be seen throughout the world.

Visarute has selected more than 40 photographs for this exhibition which will start on 1 November 2019 in the Lobby Lounge of Anantara Chiang Mai Resort, with the opening ceremony from 17:00 to 20:00 on the same day.  While enjoying and delighting in Visarute’s amazing signature images, at the same time the pastry team of Anantara Chiang Mai Resort has created a special afternoon tea inspired by the vibrant colours of the Siamese fighting fish, available daily between 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm during the exhibition, and, similarly inspired, an exclusive cocktail ‘Plakad’ and mock tail ‘Bulan’ specially created by our bartender team will also be available at The Service 1921 Bar, from 12 noon to midnight.
