Opening of Local SDGS Expo 2026
February 12
Opening of Local SDGS Expo 2026 at Central Chiang Mai (Central Festival). The general public is invited to visit the event free of charge from February 11-15, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM at the activity area in front of Central Chiang Mai Shopping Mall.
The Ministry of Commerce, uniting 37 provinces in Northern and Northeastern Thailand, is invading Chiang Mai for the grand “LOCAL SDGS EXPO 2026,” highlighting soft power for environmental protection and aiming for over 200 million baht in sales.
The Ministry of Commerce is joining forces with entrepreneurs from Northern and Northeastern Thailand to bring eco-friendly and unique premium products to be sold at the “LOCAL, SDGS EXPO 2026: Northern & Northeastern Trade” event.
Lieutenant Colonel Chakra Yodmani, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, stated that the Ministry of Commerce, through the Provincial Commerce Offices of 17 northern provinces and 20 northeastern provinces, is organizing the LOCAL SDGS EXPO 2026: Northern & Northeastern Trade from February 11-15, 2026, at the activity area in front of Central Chiang Mai. The event will bring together top-quality sustainable products and unique products from all provinces in the northern and northeastern regions, with a total of 200 booths.
The products at this event are divided into four groups: 1) Food and beverages, 2) Personal care products and herbal remedies, 3) Furniture and household goods, and 4) Clothing, apparel, and accessories, such as woven fabrics from natural fibers, gemstones from expert artisans, and innovative agricultural products, etc.
The “Business Matching” event aims to expand opportunities for entrepreneurs to access national and international trade platforms. A key highlight is the event where the Ministry of Commerce acts as a “bridge of opportunity,” bringing local entrepreneurs together for business matching to increase sales channels for SDGs products both domestically and internationally, aiming for trade value of at least 200 million baht.
Beyond the anticipated trade value, the Ministry of Commerce aims to raise awareness among entrepreneurs about the importance of adapting to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are becoming increasingly crucial in the modern trading system. This will be achieved through an exhibition showcasing outstanding SDG-related products with potential for international market expansion, and a Mini Talk Show & Workshop: sharing knowledge on sustainable product development by Mr. Parames Sai-uparat, owner of Mr. Leaf Thailand. A panel discussion will also be held to exchange perspectives on driving SDGs forward with representatives from the Ministry of Commerce and the Chiang Mai Chamber of Commerce.
Lieutenant Chakra further added that the SDGs products at this event are both a form of soft power that tells local stories and addresses global trends with the SDGs concept, being products that are “good for producers, good for consumers, and good for the world.”
It’s good for producers because it generates good income and strengthens local entrepreneurs.
Community enterprises benefit both in terms of increased sales and higher product value. Consumers also get to eat and use high-quality, unique products that are positively impacting their health.
“Appropriate, good for the planet” means an environmentally friendly production process that uses natural resources wisely.
The general public is invited to visit the event free of charge from February 11-15, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM at the activity area in front of Central Chiang Mai Shopping Mall.
