Rain Couldn’t Stop the Runway: LANNA HAUTE COUTURE Brings Lanna Fashion to Rin Kham Intersection
Chiang Mai, 8th August 2026 — Rain failed to dampen the spirit of LANNA HAUTE COUTURE, as models took to a city-centre runway at Rin Kham Intersection in front of MAYA Shopping Center, transforming one of Chiang Mai’s busiest pedestrian crossings into a striking showcase of contemporary Lanna fashion.
Organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Chiang Mai Office, the event formed part of “Saneh Thai Feel All The Feelings @ Chiang Mai: LANNA RENAISSANCE”, an initiative celebrating the city’s cultural identity through fashion, art and contemporary design.
Despite steady rainfall during the show, models continued confidently along the runway as spectators gathered around the intersection to watch. What might otherwise have disrupted the event instead became part of the spectacle, creating one of the evening’s most memorable scenes.
The rain also gave added meaning to the campaign’s “Feel All The Feelings” concept. Rather than simply inviting visitors to observe Chiang Mai’s beauty, the campaign encourages people to experience the city in all its dimensions — through fashion, art, culture, everyday life, atmosphere and, on this occasion, even the rain.
LANNA HAUTE COUTURE offered a fresh interpretation of Lanna identity, combining traditional craftsmanship and cultural influences with contemporary fashion and design.
By moving fashion away from a conventional stage and into a public space, the event transformed the pedestrian crossing at Rin Kham Intersection into an urban runway, bringing creativity directly into the heart of the city.
The event also reflected Chiang Mai’s identity as a creative city where traditional culture can continue to evolve alongside contemporary ideas while remaining vibrant and relevant.
More than simply a fashion show, the rain-soaked evening became a reminder that Chiang Mai’s charm can emerge in every mood, moment and circumstance.
